The Randolph Dream Project Scholars
Michelle Le | The Randolph Dream Project Award Recipient: Simmons College
Michelle Le is a highly motivated and compassionate young leader, who is deeply committed to helping others. She maintained high honors throughout her high school education, while playing an active role in the life of the Randolph High School community as an officer on the Class Council, a Peer Leader, a member of the RHS marching band, and a student-athlete. In addition to her in-school commitments, Michelle provided assistance in a nursing home and volunteered for Angels in America, a nonprofit organization whose primary aim is "providing hope and encouragement" through good deeds. On one occasion with Angels in America, Michelle and a small group of friends raised enough money to provide four families in need with gifts for Christmas.
When asked about her greatest achievement at RHS, Michelle said, "...earning a spot in the Top 10 of her class... and overcoming the fear of not being good enough and really pushing myself to achieve the goals I have always set out for myself to achieve!"
Michelle will be studying Nursing at Simmons College, one of the top ranked Nursing programs in the country. Her dream is to become a registered nurse and live out her passion for helping others.
For Michelle, "life is a journey...and happiness is found not in what I achieve, but in how I get there, the people I surround myself with, and the ways that I grow along the way."
Emma Lovett | Leadership Scholarship: University of Massachusetts Amherst
Emma Lovett is a creative and engaged young leader, whose intellectual interests range from astronomy to philosophy to the arts. As president of the Student Council, she helped to coordinate events that fostered a vibrant community within Randolph High School. Under her leadership, the Student Council thrived; she spearheaded a number of initiatives, including a new class senator position and a project connecting varsity athletes with youth sports in the town -- which would help build a bridge between the student-body and the wider Randolph community. Further, Emma was a Peer Leader, a member of the RHS marching band, a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, and a student-athlete. And in 2015, she was elected president of the RHS Drama Club.
When asked about her greatest achievement, Emma said, "...winning the "Best Actor" Award in 2015 at the Massachusetts Educational Theatre Guild Drama Festival."
Emma graduated with high honors and will be studying Astrophysics at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, which has been her passion since middle school. In the coming years, she hopes to take advantage of opportunities to travel abroad, where she can try new things, learn new ideas, and explore a variety astronomical observatories. Her dream is to someday work for NASA.
For Emma, what is most important in life is the quality of her relationships and her work, and giving her all in every aspect of her life.
